Meditation number 82

Diversity of gifts - unity of sentiment.

To the seven questions asked in 1 Corinthians 12:29, the same answer must be given and that is no! But in contrast to this complete diversity there is a gift that, as members of the body of Christ, we should all have. It is not the gift f healing but the gift of feeling, of common feeling. You find this in verse 26 of 1 Corinthians 12; all the members suffer with the one who suffers; and all the members rejoice with the one who is honored. There is a remarkable parallel with our physical bodies: all the senses are centered in the head and the sense of feel is shared with the whole body; it is so with the body of Christ. He is the Head, He sees everything, hears everything etc. but what He feels, He shares with us. Phil. 2:20; we should all be like Timothy who, having the same feeling as the apostle, cared with genuine feeling (NT) for the brethren.
