Meditation number 63

Understanding and Forgiveness 2

…All those we know need our understanding towards them. Let us take care of them, listen to them, accept them. Let us go beyond what they do,beyond their actions, let us be sensitive to what they are, want to be or might become. That is not to say that we approve of all they say or do although many would want us to. Being understanding does not necessarily mean approving but rather being able to see with, to see things from the others point of view, whether we consider it valid or not. Understanding is not an unconditional acceptance , but it is the acceptance of the other in whatever situation or condition he may be; that is a good starting point for forgiveness in life.
"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye” Colossians 3:12-13.
